As a free-thinker/campaigner/activist/progressive you’ve no doubt participated in the odd protest or marched in support of a just cause. You’ll have witnessed the genius of your fellow humans in expressing themselves with humour and concision. Or maybe you were that genius. Either way, we want to see what you’ve got. Enter our our Wittiest Placard Competition to gain both discounted tickets and the recognition you deserve!
Mastery of The Absurd
Now’s the chance to show your creative flair, sense of humour and mastery of the absurd, whilst bringing a message to the community. Make a placard on the issue of your choice* and bring it along to “It’s Time” at The Rondo Theatre on June 3ʳᵈ. Your handicraft will be displayed during the show and there will be a prize for the wittiest placard.
*this could be non-specific or just plain nonsense!
Get Creating
So what are you waiting for? Get creating. You may want to take a look at the embedded video for inspiration. Or perhaps you have a warped imagination all of your own. Placards can be any shape or size, provided you are able to hold and carry them. Please feel free to parade your placard on the way to the show**. Rules may be obtained by consulting your own conscience.

Someone Who Knows
This year, for Bath Fringe – between the usual, thought-provoking, challenging, uplifting songs (you’re welcome) – I’ve decided to give you a break from my wittering. It’s time we all heard from someone who actually knows what they’re talking about.
That someone is reluctant to be called ‘expert’ but, nonetheless, has a great deal of experience living things I can only write and sing about. They are Dr Neil Howard, Green activist and professor in Development Studies at Bath University. Neil has travelled widely, studying social inequality and how we can negate the impact of poverty. He’s been a frontline activist, speaking out against the destructive forces of capitalism, and is a prominent campaigner for Green issues, both locally and globally.
Sounds a Bit Serious…
Don’t worry: there’ll be much to make you laugh, sing and – hopefully – dance. Our aim is to leave you with a sense of optimism for the future and faith in human nature.

This Is Entertainment
If you’ve been to a Band named Brian Fringe offering before, you’ll know what to expect. Naturally, there’ll be some theatricality and the odd surprise along the way. Much as we want to get some strong messages across, we never lose sight of the fact that , in the end, this is entertainment.
And we want to hear your voice too. I’d suggest the more you get involved, the better the experience. But it’s also OK to just sit back and enjoy the ride. I know I will (enjoy the ride I mean… I won’t really be able to sit back – I’ll be working my socks off for you lucky people)!
