Here’s a conundrum. Like the legendary Bill Hicks, I consider the commodification of all things to be ruinous. And, by extension, marketing is pure evil. But I do want to let you know about my show…
An Embarrassment of Talent
And I must ask you – if you can – to book in advance. Why? Because, like all Fringe productions, this is being run on a shoestring. Yet the quality will be uncompromised. How so? Because you lucky people are surrounded, in this fair city, by an embarrassment of top-notch talent. And those people are willing to put time and effort into creating something special for your entertainment, with no guaranteed reward.
The Fuel We Need
Unlike the marketing pariahs, we don’t seek wealth or notoriety. What we do want, however, is your participation. And your commitment to attend is the fuel we need as we make our preparations. We do have costs to meet, so suggest a ticket price. However, you can book for as little (or as much) as you can manage. And if you really can’t spare anything, we’d rather you were there than miss out. So, you can secure a ticket regardless and nobody will judge you.
Is This Marketing?
So, is this marketing? Am I evil? I hope not. I trust you will consider this – as intended – an invitation to be part of an uplifting experience among friends.
And if you do work in marketing, I refer you to the wise words of Mr. Hicks. I was going to include a video but decided it might be too much (you can find it on a popular video-sharing platform though – enjoy).
See you at the show…
